GOVT COLLEGES TO OFFER 10 PROFESSIONAL BS PROGRAMS WITH 7 THOUSAND ANNUAL FEE
The government of Punjab has announced to start 10 new professional BS degree programs in the Government Colleges of the provinces. The initiative is aimed at providing quality education to the students for generating better employment opportunities for youth. Additionally, as low as 7 thousand annual fees will be charged from the students enrolled in these degree programs.
Normally the tuition fee and other expenses for BS professional degree programs offered by universities exceed 100 thousand per annum. But the Punjab Higher Education Department has envisioned offering these degree programs in colleges at minimum fee rates. This will benefit a large number of students in the province who are unable to support the high cost of degree programs in universities.
According to the details, the Department of Higher Education Punjab has started work on offering professional degrees in government colleges keeping in mind the market demands, limited seats in government universities, and fees of private colleges. The programs include BS in Medical Lab Technology, TESOL, Tourism and Hotel Management, Textile Designing, Textile Designing, Food Sciences, Nutrition Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Software Engineering.
DPI Colleges Dr. Ashiq, while giving a special talk, said that efforts are being made to offer admission to as many students as possible in government colleges. These programs will also be offered in the evening shift in the government colleges. He said that we have lab facilities and good faculty including MPhil and Ph.D. teachers. He said that these programs are being started in Cooper Road College, Samanabad, Dayal Singh, Ravi Road, Township, Civil Lines College, MAO college, Gulberg college, and many others.
