1 LAKH LAPTOPS TO BE DISTRIBUTED AMONGST STUDENTS THROUGH PM LAPTOP SCHEMES

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Youth Affairs Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that the Prime Minister Laptop scheme is being launched again and laptops will be provided to one lakh youth enrolled in Government universities and colleges on merit basis.

Ms. Shaza Fatima was addressing the members of the Green Youth Movement of Universities at the Down University of Health Science Karachi. She said that every year in Pakistan, 2 million new citizens need employment, but there is not enough space in the job market to accommodate all of them. She said that it is unfortunate that 30 percent of the graduates do not get jobs. Therefore, there is a need to enable the graduates to be job providers rather than being employable so that they become entrepreneurs and provide employment to other people.

In-charge Regional Center Karachi and Sports and Curriculum Division, Engineer Javed Ali Memon and Dr. Sambal Shamim also spoke on the occasion. Shaza Fatima Khawaja further said that the government has an internship program for undergraduate youth in public and private institutions at Rs 12,000 per month. The country can be brought on the road of development by using the youth properly.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that youth is a major part of our population, according to the 2017 census, the rate of 30-year-olds was 68 percent, while the number of youth between 15 to 29 years is 50 million and people under 15 years of age are 5 million.

She also said that thousands of Dollars of scholarships for our youth are wasted every year because of the lack of awareness. The government is taking steps in this regard so that the graduates can avail scholarships offered by different authorities and universities all over the world.
